CFA Charter through MS Finance

ICFAI has changed the criteria for CFA charter for its MS Finance students if they have completed the core groups needed for Investment management and financial analysis.
"Students who have successfully completed the Groups Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and the subjects Security Analysis, and Portfolio Management and Mutual Funds of the MS (Finance) Program are eligible for Membership in the CFA Council established under IUT Tripura and award of the CFA Charter and Designation."


Thus one can now become CFA by passing groups Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta of MS (Finance) Program totaling 1600 marks, but will get their MS (Finance) only after completing another 1600 marks of exams or get an MFA Degree after completing 800 marks from CFA program conducted by ICFAI University of Tripura and enrolling for the same with additional costs.


Group Alpha

• Financial Accaounting - 200 marks
• Micro and Macro Economics - 200 marks

Group Beta

• Quantitative Methods and Statistical Analysis - 200 marks
• Financial Management - 200 marks

Group Gamma

• Management Accounting - 200 marks
• Economic Legislation - 200 marks

Group Delta

• Security Analysis - 200 marks
• Portfolio Management and Mutual Funds - 200 marks

The revised format become applicable from July 2007 examinations onwards.

With a view to improve the delivery of knowledge and to integrate different elements of finance domain in a cohesive manner, the subjects in Group Delta, Epsilon, and Kappa of MS (Finance) program were realigned, Thus one can become CFA through MS (Finance) only after completing 1600 marks or 16 Papers as against 1200 marks from MFA-IUT.

Thanks for the above information , I am a MS Finance Student , now would be appearing for Gamma in Jan 2011 . Is the above change already been affected by ICFAI , Tripura , . DO i need to call up their office and confirm .

Also i need SOlved Question Papers for Gamma Group for 2009 & 2010 , from where can i get them. Can u please guide me to whom i should contact.

you taking up gamma papers for msf? but its been said its papers are to be conducted just twice a year now? is it true? i am about to start after 2yrs and just came to know. how you prepared for alpha and beta? do throw some light on that.
